Registration Is Open for Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: 20 Years After Vienna
The Center for Women’s Global Leadership at the School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers–New Brunswick, hosts a symposium on October 3 at 9:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue Campus, Rutgers–New Brunswick. This symposium discusses human rights 20 years after the UN World Conference on Human Rights. The event seeks to engage stakeholders on challenges and opportunities for the realization of human rights in the 21st century. Registration is required and the deadline is September 19. Registration Is Open for Women of Color Annual Meet and Greet Reception
The Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs hosts its annual Women of Color Meet and Greet reception on September 27 at 5 p.m. in the Zimmerli Art Museum on the College Avenue Campus, Rutgers–New Brunswick. The reception is an open invitation to all women on the Rutgers campus who are interested in meeting others with shared experiences and would like to learn about events that would benefit undergraduate women of color. Registration Is Open for Protecting Human Subjects in Qualitative Research: Ethical Considerations for IRBs and Researchers
The Human Subjects Protection Program at the Office of Research Regulatory Affairs hosts a webinar on October 24 at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of the Fiber Optic Materials Research Building on the Busch Campus, Rutgers–New Brunswick. This webinar is for researchers involved in qualitative studies and for IRB members, directors, and staff who review qualitative research protocols. Registration Is Open for Mission Possible: Transforming the Future through College Access
The Office of the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Rutgers Future Scholars host a national convening on college access from November 13–15. With funding from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, this national dialogue and networking opportunity will involve researchers, program practitioners, K–12 and higher education administrators, funders, corporations, government officials, and policy makers, and will build on existing college access knowledge to create new strategies for the future. Participating innovators, activists, and scholars include Steve Perry, CNN contributor and host of Save My Son; Rutgers president emeritus and university professor, Richard L. McCormick; Jonathan R. Alger, president of James Madison University; N.J. Secretary of Higher Education Rochelle Hendricks; and Luke Visconti, C.E.O. of DiversityInc. The Institute for Ethical Leadership at the Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick presents its upcoming Fall Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program on October 16–18 at One Washington Park, Rutgers–Newark. The program is for individuals in both the for- and nonprofit sectors who are interested in learning business skills and strategies, as well as building personal and professional leadership capacity. Each topic area is taught by a renowned practitioner, expert, or academician. The Northeast Institute for Evidence Synthesis and Translation, a research institute at the School of Nursing, hosts its second annual Winter Institute for Comprehensive Systematic Reviews of Economic Evidence in Healthcare on January 8–10 at the Rutgers Health Sciences Campus at Newark. The workshop is taught by world-renowned experts in the field of systematic reviews and evidence-based practice. The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/Rutgers Postdoctoral Association invites faculty and staff to the National Postdoc Appreciation Day Symposium on September 18 at 9 a.m. in the West Lecture Hall of RWJMS Research Tower on the Busch Campus. The program includes presentations by postdoctoral researchers; seminars on mentoring, networking, and CVs and résumés; career panels; mock interviews; and a keynote lecture by Howard G. Adams, president of H.G. Adams & Associates, Inc. This event is open to the public but registration is required in order to guarantee free lunch and refreshments. The Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs Faculty and Staff Ambassadors Program
The Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs, Rutgers–New Brunswick, announces the fall 2013 session of the Faculty and Staff Ambassadors Program. The Ambassadors Program is designed to complement confirmed international visits by Rutgers tenured or tenure-track faculty or staff. Once a Rutgers faculty or staff member has solidified international travel plans, the Ambassadors Program may provide supplementary funds (from $200–$700) to enable visits to partner or potential partner institutions, international organizations, and/or alumni in the area on behalf of the university. Applications for the fall 2013 session are due by August 23, and award decisions will be announced no later than August 30.
