Street Closure on College Avenue for Groundbreaking Ceremony
Seminary Place will be closed to traffic on September 19 from 5:30 a.m. through 3 p.m. for the College Avenue Redevelopment Initiative Groundbreaking ceremony. This event marks the beginning of a transformation for the College Avenue Campus, as approximately 10 acres of land will be redeveloped to include a new university academic building, a residential honors college, Rutgers Hillel, and the New Brunswick Theological Seminary.

Legacy UMDNJ Faculty and Staff Business Card Deadline: August 30
Rutgers is supplying one 250-count box of replacement business cards for all legacy UMDNJ faculty and staff who previously received UMDNJ cards and became part of Rutgers on July 1. Learn more about the business cards and how to order them on the visual identity website. The deadline for ordering these business cards is August 30.

RU-tv Upgrades to Interrupt Regular Service
RU-tv is currently performing equipment upgrades and is switching over to mostly digital channels. There may be interruptions to service and some channels may go offline or appear out of order in the channel line-up. Televisions must be reprogrammed for the RU-tv channels when connecting a television for the first time or if the unit is already connected to the RU-tv cable system. 2013 RUPD Survey
Faculty and staff are invited to complete an online survey as part of the Rutgers University Police Department's efforts to further improve services provided to the university community. This survey will evaluate current policing strategies and assist in implementing, modifying, or eliminating programs as needed. Take the survey here.

Registration Is Open for Communicator Certificate Program Workshops
Faculty and staff whose responsibilities include regular communication projects should consider signing up for the university’s Communicator Certificate Program. Workshops offer training in event promotion, Rutgers identity standards, outreach to the public, and more. It is also a way to meet colleagues from across the university while expanding skill sets. Due to an essential maintenance project in Hill Data Center, some Rutgers websites and email servers will be temporarily unavailable as of 6 a.m. on August 20. All websites and services hosted in that location will be unavailable. Rutgers Campus Information Services is able to help with questions or directory assistance. The Department of Transportation Services alerts the New Brunswick Campus community that Somerset Street will be closed between Easton Avenue and George Street for paving from August 7 through August 9.

Rutgers holds an employee information fair on July 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Atrium of the University Education Center at the School of Osteopathic Medicine at Stratford. This fair provides employees in legacy UMDNJ positions at Rutgers with information about employee services at the university.

Newly Revised Rutgers Editorial Style Guide
The Rutgers Editorial Style Guide has been updated and posted on the University Relations website. The guidelines were developed to lend consistency to university print and electronic communications. Their primary purpose is to address topics specific to Rutgers that may not be adequately covered in standard style guides. When to hyphenate? What to capitalize? Check out the style guide.

Rutgers Calendar of Events Usage
The Rutgers Calendar of Events is the central calendar for Rutgers, which lists many of the exciting events taking place on all campuses. Individuals in Rutgers departments and units may, at the discretion of the calendar of events administrator, post events to the calendar using a NetID. Events that are posted gain more exposure and are often pulled and published on other Rutgers websites. Events must be listed on the calendar in order to be considered for inclusion in the Faculty & Staff Bulletin. Learn more here.

Ordering Business Cards for Legacy UMDNJ Faculty and Staff
To welcome legacy UMDNJ faculty and staff to the Rutgers community, the university has agreed to supply an initial set of Rutgers-branded replacement business cards at no cost for all employees who currently have UMDNJ-branded business cards. A link to the online printing center portal is available on the Rutgers Visual Identity website where legacy UMDNJ employees who are eligible to receive business cards can input information, proof, approve, and order one 250-count box of Rutgers-branded business cards. Complete the Office of Employment Equity's Unlawful Harassment Prevention Program
The Office of Employment Equity at University Human Resources has launched a new program to educate staff and faculty on the prevention of unlawful harassment on campus and in the workplace. Unlawful Harassment Prevention is a web-based suite of courses designed to help employees recognize situations that may involve unlawful harassment and respond appropriately to harassment complaints. All staff employees are required to take the Unlawful Harassment Prevention for Higher Education Staff course (“Staff Course”). Staff supervisors are required to take both the Staff Course and the Unlawful Harassment Prevention Supervisor Supplement course (“Supervisor Supplement”). All staff employees and staff supervisors will receive an email message from Workplace Answers, which contains a link to the courses. The courses must be completed within 30 days of receipt of the email message. The 30-day completion requirement for employees in academic year appointments begins on September 1.
